Our story Our story Our Story – How a Czech Gastronomic git was born from boring airport waiting Do you know how to recognize a fateful encounter? It comes when you least expect it, yet you somehow feel it's not a coincidence. Everything just clicks and suddenly makes sense. Add a whirlwind of indescribable emotions and goosebumps... That’s exactly how I met yuzu for the first time. It happened in January 2018 while waiting for a connecting flight at Seoul Airport on my way back from a vacation in New Zealand. I used my last Korean won to buy a yuzu tea at a local café—a drink I’d never heard of before. And then it hit me. Absolute euphoria from the taste of an unknown fruit—so different, fresh, intense, yet perfectly balanced. As a passionate citrus grower and a professional barista, I knew instantly: this is where my yuzu journey begins. How we welected the best yuzu for you after returning home, I discovered that hardly anyone in Europe knew what yuzu was. I immediately realized I had to fill this gap in the market. Because when fate meets a great business idea, it just works. My ambition was big—I didn’t want to import just any yuzu to Europe, but the best from all of Asia, introduce it to the masses, and make it a hit. It took me six months of administrative preparation, searching and contacting producers, another six months of importing samples, tastings, and overcoming customs barriers, and a year of negotiations. It was tough, but it bore fruit—literally. Out of 30 samples from different regions, we chose the winner—with perfect consistency and up to 74% fruit content. The yuzu we selected comes from the Goheung region, known for its ideal climate and ocean breezes, perfect for cultivating this unique citrus. And Today? Yuzu is conquering the Czech food scene, sales are growing, and so are we. It’s no longer just about me—together with my business partner Martin Kněžický, an amazing team of enthusiasts, and a new brand, we’re opening a new chapter and constantly expanding our offering. Over the years, our relationship with the farmers from Goheung has grown beyond business. We’ve become friends, and we’re happy that our collaboration is helping to support and develop this magical region. A flavor you’ll never get tired of what makes yuzu so irresistible? Its complex flavor that evolves with every bite. The whole fruit is processed, including the aromatic peel, which smells like grapefruit. The pulp is pleasantly sour with sweet notes, similar to lemon or mandarin. Thanks to that, yuzu offers a refreshing citrus spark, elegant bitterness, gentle sweetness, and a unique exotic twist. Get ready for an explosion of familiar flavors with a scent of distant lands! One citrus, a thousand recipes – try it and surprise yourself yuzu will become your trusted partner in culinary adventures. It has endless possibilities and breaks all the rules. You can make refreshing drinks, warming teas, marinades, sauces, salad dressings, or desserts. Just pour, mix, spread, cook, or bake… There are no limits to creativity. We’re still discovering what can be created with yuzu. What about yuzu beer, ice cream, or candies? We’ve got lots of ideas. Don’t be afraid to experiment and find your own way to add yuzu juice to your daily routine. I promise you’ll never get bored of the taste. Martin Lomický, your yuzu discoverer and enthusiast Share
